FCL shipment refers to when the shipper / owner of a package chooses to bear the entire cost of a container from origin to destination. It is a single shipment that is then put on a ship and the shipper may either have enough goods to fill the container or not as various reasons can lead to the use of FCL such as time, issues around damage to goods. On the other hand, an LCL shipment also called a consolidated shipper is when the shopper shares volume space in the container alongside others and pays specifically for only their total volume weight.
